Fourth year students participate in the annual Economists Conference 2016

Fourth year Business Administration and Management (ADE) students participated in the annual Economists Conference 2016 last Friday. The conference was organised by the Catalan Society of Economists.

This year the conference focused on new trends at a global level and the issue discussed was "Geopolítica i geoeconomia: un ordre econòmic mundial canviant” [Geopolitics and geoeconomics: a changing world economic order].

In terms of tax, the action plan approved by the OECD to set out limits to international fiscal ‘planning’ was discussed.  The necessary transparency and efficient control of the management of funds and public organisations requires a framework for the relationship between the auditor and the bodies for the supervision of what is public. The analysis of fraud and accounting and financial scandals makes it necessary for us to have tools to ensure the reliability of business information.  The modification of the Penal Code can help to increase the responsibilities of bankruptcy administrations, but also of legal persons, in English we call this compliance.

During this conference there was also discussion of whether Catalonia is ready to achieve the logistical challenges of an interconnected economy. The seven strategic sessions at the Economists Conference 2016 focused on the geoeconomic and geopolitical wave which is pushing nations and the current economic system towards a new world order.

The conference was held in a dual format, meaning professional and strategic sessions were given at the same time.
