Good showing by UIC Barcelona in the second edition of Unirun

One of our alumni, Eric Monasterio, and a current student, Ihor Prissiajni, came in eighth and eleventh respectively in the Unirun race. Moreover, UIC Barcelona was seventh in the ranking of numbers of people signed up for the run.

Eric Monasterio was the first from our university to complete the race. The former physiotherapy student came in eighth overall, covering the 6,779 metres of the course – the same length as the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race – in 22 minutes and 50 seconds.

Furthermore, first year medical student Ihor Prissiajni crossed the finishing line in eleventh place, hitting the stopwatch at 23 minutes and 3 seconds.

In the female category, Paki Torrejón was the first of the 67 women representing UIC Barcelona to cross the line.

More than 3,200 athletes took part in the event, and 123 of them were representing us. Unirun is an athletic initiative promoted by 12 Catalan universities through ECU (Catalan University Sport) with backing from the Barcelona City Council, the Secretariat-General of Sport and the City Council of Sant Adrià de Besòs; the organisation is handled by Gaudium Sports.
