Héctor Oliva
(Terrassa, 1970) is a journalist and tour guide. A passionate self-taught geographer and historian, he is the author of Pasajes a América (winner of the Eurostars award), Veinte historias de la Barcelona americana y una pregunta descarada and a mountaineering book entitled 17 Cimas, also published by Librooks. He is also the author of a novel called Noroeste, about Spanish participation in the search for the Northeast Passage. He spent three years on this project, because “it was not only about climbing up the mountains, which is the most existential part, but also about searching for the past and doing research about hypotheses, legends and realities, and this takes time if you want to do so rigorously”, although it might be just a few fun pinches of rigour.
