Holy Family University, UIC Barcelona’s first partner university in Philadelphia

With this new partnership, UIC Barcelona now has agreements with 18 American universities.

This past May, Isabel Pera, director of the International Relations Service, and Celia Martínez, global partnerships and staff mobility manager at UIC Barcelona, visited Holy Family University. There they met with the institution’s president, Sister Maureen McGarrity; the associate vice-president for Institutional Effectiveness and Diversity, Nicole Stokes-DuPass; the dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, Cynthia A Russell; the vice-president for Academic Affairs, Michael W. Markowitz; and Brian Berry, a professor from the School of Education.

During the visit, they signed a framework agreement that involves the exchange of students and teaching staff from the Faculty of Education. They also began studying the possibility of entering into an agreement in the area of Nursing, the details of which will be ironed out by the two faculties in the coming months.

Holy Family University is a private Catholic university that offers undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education programmes. The University aims to provide high-quality, affordable and personalised education centred around the traditional values of Catholic higher education. Its main campus is located in the northeast of Philadelphia. New York City is just an hour and a half away by train, as is Washington, DC. The city of Philadelphia is largely considered one of the best places to study in the US.
