IESF present in the 8th Congress of the European Society on Family Relations, Dortmund (Germany)

Under the slogan: "Changing Family Relations - Gender and Generations" this prestigious conference brought together researchers from across Europe. The ESFR (European Society on Family Relations) is an interdisciplinary scientific association focused on the research about family relationships and its serve as networking and exchange of results between researchers and research centers across Europe.

The professors Frederic Marimon and Rita Cavallotti have presented a paper where a multidimensional scale that measures the intergenerational family solidarity (IFS) is exposed. This project promoted by the IESF (Institute of Advanced Family Studies), is part of the research on intergenerational solidarity of the Chair IsFamily Santander. This paper aims to measure different dimensions of solidarity between generations family by adding a new variable: the systematic solidarity. The validation was made from a sample of 201 questionnaires.

The conference organized by the ESFR in Dortmund, Germany (August 31 to September 3, 2016) has as its main focus the changes in family relationships and the influence of the gender dimension and different family generations on issues such as globalization, migration, the neoliberal transformation of labor, individualization and aging in a context of decline of the welfare state.
