The Institute for Multilingualism participates in the third edition of the Vives Network’s Interuniversity Style Guide for Writing Institutional Texts in English

Mhairi Bain, a language specialist from the Institute for Multilingualism, recently took part in the creation of the 3rd edition of the Vives Network’s Interuniversity Style Guide for Writing Institutional Texts in English. The most important new feature of this edition is the addition of a series of model institutional documents.

One of the main cornerstones of the Vives Network of universities is the promotion of multilingualism. As a result, the institutions worked together to produce a single set of homogeneous English-language guidelines. The guide was written by members of the Language Quality Working Group, who are all English-language specialists working at Catalan universities, and is primarily intended for use in an academic setting.

The document helps to ensure the language quality of information published with an international audience in mind and to enrich the language proficiency of university staff members. The document has been downloaded almost 40,000 times from the Vives Network’s language resource website since it was first published in 2013.
