The International Relations Service visits several universities in the United States

Isabel Pera, director of International Relations, and Celia Martínez, Global Partnership and Staff Mobility Manager at UIC Barcelona, attended the annual NAFSA conference on education in Los Angeles. They also took the opportunity to touch base with the universities with which UIC Barcelona holds an agreement, such as UC Berkeley, with the aim of creating new partnerships.

Each year, the NAFSA Association of International Educators, a non-profit association dedicated to higher education, organises an international conference on education. Present at the event, which took place in Los Angeles at the beginning of the month, were Isabel Pera and Celia Martínez. This conference is held in several cities throughout the United Staters and offers education professionals the opportunity to forge alliances and strengthen relationships with universities on an international level.

Pera and Martínez also took advantage of the trip to the United States to take part in the Open House Event, organised by the University of California, Berkeley. As part of this event, UC Berkeley invited all international universities with which it holds a cooperation agreement to take an up-close look at how they work and explore ways of extending their agreement with the institution.

Isabel Pera and Celia Martínez also had the chance to visit other prestigious universities in the area, including Stanford University, the University of California, Davis and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), were they met with Faculty of Communication Sciences lecturer Isabel Villanueva, who is currently pursuing research under a Fulbright grant at UCLA.
