The Jovell Institute attends the 1st Oncology and Innovation Workshop “Co-creating health: information and emotional support for cancer patients”

Pablo Gálvez, member of the UIC Barcelona Albert Jovell Institute of Public Health and Patients took part in the 1st Oncology and Innovation Workshop “Co-creating health: information and emotional support for cancer patients” held in Madrid on 20 January. Galvez spoke about innovation in the information required by patients, providing strategies based on qualitative research on behalf of patients aimed at discovering their needs, health literacy and evaluating educational material to increase its effectiveness.

The aim of the event, organised by Aulamyc and Novartis, was to identify the innovative initiatives that contribute to improving the quality and “quantity” of the information required by patients (and their families) at any given point, optimising their communication with the oncologist and providing the emotional support sought by cancer sufferers and their families. The session explored the opportunity for creating an informal network of experts interested in putting into practice these ideas and recommendations in the form of new services and solutions.
