Law students distribute food, water and blankets to homeless people

A group of students travelled around different areas of Barcelona helping people out for the second consecutive year.

In May 2017, the Network of Care for Homeless People (XAPSLL) counted more than 3,000 homeless people in Barcelona.  This figure has doubled in recent years, due to the financial crisis.

There are a lot of people who do not have access to a plate of hot food or a blanket to keep them warm.  Due to this situation, and spurred on by their most altruistic side, 10 Faculty of Law students decided to get together in December to spend an afternoon handing out hot food, water and blankets to homeless people in the city.

First, the 10 students met up to do the shopping together and then one day later, on 14 December, they cooked 10 kilos of pasta and tomato sauce, which they carried along with 40 bottles of water and 18 blankets. They then went around different areas of the city to offer this help to homeless people.

While they were in Ciutadella park, the group of UIC Barcelona students met up with another group of three Alumni members who have created a foundation that hands out food once a week to those who need it the most.
