Lecturer García Pousa takes part in a congress at the University of Lisbon

Laura García Pousa, course coordinator for Audiovisual Communication and professor of Film and Television Scripts, took part as a speaker in the international congress “Women in Iberian Cinema”, held at the University of Lisbon’s School of Arts and Humanities

The paper, presented at the international congress “Women in Iberian Cinema”, was entitled: “Del agroglamour al videoarte. La identidad en el cine gallego contemporáneo realizada por mujeres” [From Agro-Glamour to Video Art: Identity in Contemporary Galician Films Made by Women]. The event was organised by the Centre for Comparative Studies at the University of Lisbon.

Framed within the creative and cultural context of the New Galician Film movement, in this paper, García Pousa analyses the common narrative elements, poetic constants and drive for identity that have led to the distinct range of audiovisual forms and expressions present in the audiovisual works currently being made by women in Galicia.
