Lecturer Juan José Guardia contributes his expertise to the preparation of laws in the Valencian Courts

The vice-dean of the Faculty of Law appeared in the Valencian Courts to present his analysis on the modification of two laws: the Law on Transparency and Good Governance of the Valencian Community and the Incompatibilities and Conflicts of Interest of Individuals with Unelected Public Offices of the Valencian Community

Juan José Guardia, vice-dean of students of the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Law, shared his expertise in the public participation appearances stage of two law proposals in the Valencian Courts on 6 May. Guardia was part of the procedure for the preparation of the legal proposal for the amendment of Law 1/2022 of 13 April on Transparency and Good Governance of the Valencian Community, and of Law 8/2016 of 28 October on Incompatibilities and Conflicts of Individuals with Unelected Public Offices of the Valencian Community.

The public participation hearings phase is an essential process in the drafting of laws, where citizens, experts, civil organisations and other stakeholders have the opportunity to present their opinions, suggestions and analysis on a legislative proposal. “This process is a crucial part of fostering transparency and inclusiveness, allowing legislation to reflect more broadly and accurately the concerns and needs of society,” said the expert.

Dr Guardia participated in the process in his capacity as an accredited professor of Administrative Law. This intervention represents a significant activity of knowledge transfer from the university to society, clearly demonstrating “the relevance and capacity of expert university teachers in providing specialised knowledge in solving public problems”, explained Guardia.

The full recorded session of the public appearances phase is now available.
