Lecturers Mireia Llauradó, Anna Aliberch, Jordi Castillo, Carmina Rodríguez and David Esteve take part in the development of the mobile application AppIC

The most recent edition of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine Annual Congress was chosen as the venue for the presentation of AppIC, an innovative application for nursing and health professionals promoted by the Nurses & Allied Health Professionals Group.

The AppIC mobile application was created to offer nursing professionals a tool to help intensive care patients at the bedside. Developed by over 80 nurses from six countries, including several lecturers from UIC Barcelona, the tool features a wide range of content aimed at improving the level of knowledge of this group of people.

AppIC contains material on pathology, physiology, procedures, medication and several calculators, all of which is grouped into four sections: Investigate, Interact, Perform and Tools. Users also have a personal area in which they may save relevant documents and access them offline.

The application is currently available in English only. Dr Mireia Llauradó, lecturer in the Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing, is coordinating the Spanish version of the app, which is scheduled for release in 2018. AppIC may be downloaded free of charge from both the Play Store and Apple Store.
