The architecture studios Archikubik, whose team includes UIC Barcelona lecturer and holder of a PhD in Architecture Miquel Lacasta, along with his partners Marc Chalamanch and Carmen Santana; Arquitectura-G, headed by alumni and lecturers Jonathan Arnabat, Aitor Fuentes, Jordi Ayala-Bril and Igor Urdampilleta; and Flexo Arquitectura, which includes UIC Barcelona lecturer Tomeu Ramis, together with Aixa del Rey and Bárbara Vich, were selected to participate in the Venice Architecture Biennale.
This edition, organised under the title "Reporting from the Front", will be curated by Alejandro Aravena and is due to take place between 28 May and 27 November 2016, with 62 countries taking part.
The three studios were selected as participants in the exhibition "Unfinished", curated by Iñaqui Carnicero and Carlos Quintáns, in the Biennale's Spanish Pavilion, with the projects Rei Marti Water Deposit (Barcelona), Light House (Cilleros) and Pavilion for an Existing House (Barcelona), respectively. Archikubik will also be featured in the exhibition "Aftermath", on display in the Catalan Pavilion curated by Jaume Prat, Jelena Prokopljevic and Isaki Lacuesta, with the project Saint Roch Car Park (Montpelier, France).
