Marc Argemí, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, speaker at Catosfera
Dr Marc Argemí, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences and director of Sibilare, took part as a speaker at Catosfera, a series of in-depth debates and inspiring talks on new technologies and the world of the internet. On 15 October, Dr Argemí gave a lecture entitled "Political conversation on the web: experiences of Big Data analysis 2015-2016".
The Catosfera conference sessions, which took place from 13 to 15 October in the auditorium of the La Mercè Cultural Centre in Girona, have become an annual gathering point for Catalonia's most active and entrepreneurial sectors involved in the internet.
Catosfera was organised by Tirabol Producciones and the City Council of Girona and also included an initial meeting for bloggers - and later on Twitter users - who personified the founding spirit of the event, the entrepreneurial aspect of the sector in Catalonia.
The 2016 edition of Catosfera was dedicated to 'The Internet of People'. In each of its editions, Catosfera has aimed to approach discussion of the web from a specific viewpoint, such as digital entrepreneurship or the international impact of initiatives being developed in our own country. The internet is everywhere and present in every part of our lives: work, education, leisure, communication, politics and any other aspect we might think of. That is why this year Catosfera has opted, as far as possible, for a global vision. How? By giving a voice to people who come from very different fields so that, by putting their personal testimonies together as if they were pixels, a picture can be formulated of what is happening in the internet right now and what may occur in the immediate future.
