Maria Pujol participates in “L’autèntica illa del tresor” [The Real Treasure Island], a documentary on channel 33 and Súper 3.

One of our professors from the Faculty of Education, Maria Pujol Valls, recently participated in a documentary entitled “L’autèntica illa del tresor” [The Real Treasure Island]. The documentary was broadcast by the Cronos programme on Channel 33 and Club Súper 3.  The event took place in the Palau Robert building in Barcelona.

Professor Pujol’s involvement in the documentary was to contextualise “Treasure Island”, a novel written in 1861, but which is still a classic for teenagers today. The reason for this is that these young people “identify with cabin boy Jim Hawkins, the real protagonist of the story, because both the character and the readers are experiencing a new stage in their maturity, in their discovery of themselves” said Professor Pujol.

Pujol Valls also explained that the prototype of the Pirate which we currently have is based on “a description of the pirates from ‘Treasure Island’, although the novel by Stevenson was written when pirate stories were already in fashion”.

Enric Calpena, presenter of the “Cronos” programme on 33, and Toni Roy, Director of Content and Events for Children and Young People for the CCMA television company, also participated in the introduction to this event.  After the documentary was broadcast, attendees were also able to visit the exhibition on the Club Súper 3 programme which was held due to the fact it was the programme’s 25th anniversary. The exhibition was open in Palau Robert until 4 September.
