New edition of the course “Climate Concrete II: Concrete Porous Walls Project with CEMEX Research Group in Switzerland”

The Chair in Industrial Construction and the Environment (CEIM) at UIC Barcelona, in partnership with the CEMEX Research Group in Switzerland, is once again organising the subject entitled "Climate Concrete II: Concrete Porous Walls Project with CEMEX Research Group in Switzerland”.

This course is an optional subject for students from the ESARQ - School of Architecture at UIC Barcelona and may be taken as a Continuing Education course by architecture students from any other university.

The aim of the subject is to demonstrate the enormous potential of porous concrete for improving the energy performance and air quality of buildings.

Students will be required to develop a specific formula for concrete and design an improved construction system for the building envelope. They will also develop a full-scale prototype of the proposed system for laboratory testing to validate the behaviour of the material and project in different scenarios.

At the end of the course, the eight top students will take part in a 6-day workshop taught by the CEMEX Research Group in Brügg, Switzerland.

This the second edition will be held each Monday from 12 to 3 p.m., starting in October 2017 and ending in January 2018, and will feature a teaching staff made up of CEIM Chair lecturers and experts from the CEMEX Research Group in Switzerland.
