On 29 March our Sant Cugat Campus hosted the first Interuniversity Periodontology Meeting, which brought together more than 60 students from the University of Padua and UIC Barcelona. The event, organised by the Department of Periodontology in the Faculty of Dentistry, directed by Dr José Nart, and coordinated by Dr Vanessa Ruiz, allowed participants to share knowledge from their respective fields and learn new techniques from professionals.
Dr Lluís Giner, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona, gave the opening speech. The event was divided into four sessions. During these sessions, the benefits of using innovative techniques and gadgets based on clinical cases were demonstrated through the explanations provided by professors and lecturers from the Department of Periodontology.
“Having participants from both universities was really interesting, since it allowed us all to exchange opinions and find out about different ways of working” explained Dr Ruiz. “Also, we hope attendees acquired new knowledge in this meeting that can be applied in their daily work, which will allow them to improve results and become better dentists”.
The second edition of the International Periodontology Meeting will take place next year in Padua.
