Del Barrio gave a talk entitled “Sport rivalries in soccer and hierarchy in domestic leagues”. In his talk he discussed the results of research into football teams and national leagues analysed from a new point of view. The innovative side of his analysis involves adding to economic terms, and comparing the positions of football teams and leagues while taking the team’s fans and members of the public into account. The aim of the study was to extensively examine the media impact of local and global rivalries in European football.
