Physiotherapy students attend to 300 runners at the Barcelona Marathon

This year students from the Department of Physiotherapy at UIC Barcelona volunteered at the Barcelona Marathon for the second time. This year, for the 38th edition of the marathon, a group of 50 physiotherapy students volunteered by providing assistance to the runners after the race.  They were given the opportunity to apply sports physiotherapy techniques, by giving massages and helping people to stretch their muscles.

The group of students, supervised by professors Laia Monné and Rosa Cabanas, provided care for more than 300 athletes between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Two UIC Barcelona students, Marine Guerlou and Adrian Matamala, also had the opportunity to go along to the intensive care unit set up for the marathon and experience the race from the point of view of a professional physiotherapist.
