Professor of Dentistry Anna Hospital receives the Medal of Honour for justice in Catalonia

One of our professors of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona, Anna Hospital, recently received a Medal of Honour which the Department of Justice in the Catalan Generalitat awards to people who have contributed to this field through their exceptional service.  During the event, which was held in the Palau de la Generalitat and presided over by President Carles Puigdemont and Minister Mundó, Dr Hospital was awarded for her work in the field of anthropology and forensic dentistry.  She has participated in numerous situations in which dental analysis has permitted both the identification of criminals and the reconstruction of facts, as well as the identification of victims in incidents involving multiple victims and in catastrophes.

The help she provided during the tsunami in Thailand in 2004, during the terrorist attack in Madrid, also in 2004, during the Germanwings airline accident in the French Alps on 24 March 2015, and during the traffic accident in Freginals in 2016 should be highlighted.  Dr Hospital holds a degree in medicine and surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, a degree in dentistry from the University of Barcelona, and is a senior forensic doctor at the Catalan Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Science in Girona.  She teaches the legal and forensic dentistry subject taught as part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry at UIC Barcelona.
