Proposals for the International Festival of Creative Representations of the End of Life, organised by the WeCare Chair, are now being accepted

The WeCare Chair launched the WeCare Festival: Living to the End to help promote creative representations that revolve around the subject of the end of life. As this stage of the life cycle is often associated with suffering, the team at the WeCare Chair wanted to show that life can be full of meaning under any circumstances and to the end.

As a result, anyone looking to give voice to patients, family members and health professionals living with this situation have until December 2017 to submit their proposals. The festival has three categories: short films, portraits and short stories. The names of the winners will be announced in March 2018.

The festival will also feature a series of round tables, which will include expert professionals from a number of different disciplines. The aim is to inform, increase the visibility of and generate discussion about the end of life, as well as add new perspectives to provide a deeper understanding of illness and ageing and encourage reflection. The WeCare Chair: End of Life Care is the result of a cooperation agreement between the Universitat International de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona), Àltima and the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO). The main objective of the Chair’s projects is to enhance knowledge of end of life care and usher in medium and long-term clinical and social change. The WeCare Chair aspires to become a point of reference and model of excellence in the international community for the generation of knowledge on the needs and care of people with advanced illness at the end of life and their family members.
