Roser Matas, Impars’ new talent for this year’s Christmas card

An illustrator and teacher from Olot, Roser Matas is the new talent chosen by Impars to illustrate the 2018 Christmas card.

As happens every year, members of the Impars project have selected a rising talent from the international scene to create the Christmas card; the card UIC Barcelona sends to students, workers and contributors to celebrate this special time of year. Roser Matas is the illustrator chosen to create this year’s card.

Roser’s work is a reworking of the original 16th-century painting “The Adoration of the Shepherds” by Giorgione. To create the card, Roser used a technique known as photocomposition. This technique consists in introducing drawings into a pre-existing work. In this case, since Roser’s characters visit the adoration, she decided to name the work “Visiting the Adoration of the Shepherds”.

Impars is a project created to promote contemporary art internationally. With a carefree spirit and an interest in artistic culture, this project gives creative minds the chance to develop as artists, get a start in the professional world and show their creations to the public. Previous Impars artists include Carla Cascales, Helena Pérez García and Oriol Miró.
