Senior managers from Nestlé and DHL advise Business Administration and Management students on how to enhance their professional profile
On Friday 4 November, María Castelló, head of Social Development for the Human Resources Department at Nestlé; Ana María Gimeno, HR Business Partner; and Alba Tapia, HR Site Manager at DHL, led a session about professional profiles for students from the subject Human Resource Management.
The workshop was entitled "RAISE YOUR VALUE! Keys to promoting your profile". The objective was to provide students information on the professional profiles that companies are currently seeking and how to prepare a good job interview. As the presenters explained, companies are looking for people with skills (such as languages, motivation, proactivity, initiative, creativity, internationality, strong work ethic, selflessness, new technologies, etc.), not experts with specific knowledge, as such knowledge quickly becomes obsolete.
They mentioned four aspects of the job search process that students were required to explore as a team:
- Identification. Get to know yourself. Who am I?
- Communication. Communicate! Get your name out there.
- Prove it. Give proof! Interview.
- Ongoing assessment. Decision. End of the recruitment process?
After discussing these issues in teams, a spokesperson for each group gave an oral presentation, which both María Castelló and Ana María Gimeno assessed and enriched with their comments.
The session helped complement the theoretical portion of the subject on talent recruitment and development in organisations. It concluded with a question and answer session about how to handle group dynamics in the recruitment process and how to provide proof of certain competences.
