“Sin Correspondencia” is selected for the 13th Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria

The short film that was created as a final degree project last year by former UIC Barcelona students Núria Audi, Santi Gilabert, Luis Meseguer, Alfons Ruata and Santiago Rubiras has been selected for the 13th Early Bird Festival in Sofia (Bulgaria).  Other audiovisual communication students from UIC Barcelona also participated in making the film.

It was a final degree project, and now, who knows if there will be more! “It is always very exciting to see that work that has taken you months goes beyond a simple final degree project” said Santi Gilabert, the producer of the short film.

Between 1 and 5 November, two members of the team will travel to Bulgaria to attend the Early Bird Festival. The organisation will cover the costs and if the film wins, they will win a cash prize towards their next project.

Sin Correspondencia - which also won an IMMA Prize for best project in June - tells the story of Marcos, a young person who works as a postman but whose dream is to be a poet. He has never been able to publically demonstrate his artistic qualities, however this secret passion explodes when he meets Marina, a slightly peculiar artist. It is a feel-good comedy.  It allows the audience to enjoy themselves, without being laugh-out-loud hilarious, and also to empathise with the protagonist.

This Early Bird Festival selection is the first one the project has received. It will compete in the fiction section against almost seventy more projects. Apart from Sin Correspondencia, there is only one more short film produced in Spain included in the selection.
