Students and professors from the Faculty of Education participate in the second international conference on "Learning Through Language"

UIC Barcelona recently participated in this event organised by St. Peter’s School, Barcelona. It took place on 9 and 10 March.

Angélica Carlet, a lecturer and coordinator of the Bilingual Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Primary or Primary Education represented UIC Barcelona and the Faculty of Education during the opening session of the “Learning Through Language” conference.

The main theme of the conference was emotions and the role they play in learning different languages.

A plurilingual approach that promotes academic growth and the ability to interact with the world were the other two main topics at this event. Also, in terms of emotions, issues such as dyslexia were discussed.

How dyslexia can affect students at an emotional level was tackled, as well as how to create the ideal learning environment for students who have this problem. The benefits of music and drama when learning languages was another of the topics for one of the talks.

There were also workshops as well as the talks, and these included a range of different activities.
