Students from the course Sustainability I visit the Rockwool factory

On 7 December, students from the course Sustainability I, taught by lecturer Pau Casaldaliga, paid a one-day visit to the Rockwool factory, a company that sponsors UIC Barcelona's Chair in Industrialised Construction and the Environment (CEIM).

The students were greeted by Jordi Guivernau, a member of Rockwool Peninsular's technical department, and had the opportunity to see the entire rock wool production process and learn more about the company's environmental plans. Rockwool is a pioneering company in the production of volcanic rock wool and mineral wool. These products are used in thermal insulation, soundproofing and as a fire barrier in construction. Apart from being the leading manufacturer in this field, the company has an environmental management system that monitors the sustainability of their products and their manufacture.

The Sustainability I course is a compulsory subject at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture. It has links to the CEIM Chair, whose goal is to raise environmental awareness in the construction industry based on a cross-cutting approach and the transfer of knowledge between the university and companies.
