CLAROBSCUR, the brainchild of students Anna Capella, Ariadna Martínez, Mariona Mayol, Anna Mirapeix, Judith Puig and Sergi Viñals, was recognised, in the words of the jury, for its "aesthetic beauty and perfect technical execution, which translates into a poetic, mysterious and surprising work."

The jury was made up of Josep Maria Civit, director of photography, stage lighting professional and one of the festival's guest artists; Martín Azúa, designer and guest artist at LLUM BCN; Faust Morales, multimedia artist; Eloi Maduell, visual artist at Playmodes Studio; Xevi Bayona, architect and curator of the Lluèrnia Festival in Olot; and Rafael Gallego, lighting designer and president of the Spanish Professional Lighting Designers' Association (APDI).

The LLUM BCN 2017 Award, which the Barcelona Culture Institute confers on the best light installations created by schools of art, design, lighting and architecture in Barcelona during the festivities organised in honour of Saint Eulalia, was handed out on 12 February in an event held at the former Simon Factory, in the Poblenou district of Barcelona.
