TimeCode, best short film at the European Film Awards

This film, directed by Juanjo Giménez and produced by Arturo Méndiz has now received further international recognition which can be added to previous awards.

Timecode, directed by Juanjo Giménez (Barcelona, 1963), can now add a new award to the list it has already accumulated. This film, produced by UIC Barcelona lecturer Arturo Méndiz, has been crowned best short film at the 30th edition of the European Film Awards (EFA).

This European prize can now be added to the awards that Timecode has received over the past year. Last February it won a Goya award for best short film, one of our former students Jose Parcerisa also worked on the film as Head of Production. Three months afterwards the film won a prestigious Palme d’Or in the same category.

The film was also nominated for an Oscar in the best fictional short film category, and was the first time in history that a Catalan short film had been in the running for one of these prestigious awards. The awards for this film also include a Gaudí award for best short film; a young jury award from the Aix-en-Provence International Short Film Festival and an award from Ghent Film Festival. The film was also nominated for the recent José María Forqué Awards.

Timecode is the story of a relationship that arises between two security guards from a parking lot, who only see each other for a few minutes each day, when they change shifts. This relationship is not expressed in words, but instead through the magic of a shared passion.
