Two Law professors take part in an international congress on minors and parentage

The vice-dean of the Faculty of Law, María Fernández Arrojo, and Carmen María Lázaro recently participated in the international congress Minors: Parentage and Protection, which took place in Almeria.

The congress, organised by the Faculty of Law at the University of Almeria, the UNED, IDADFE and the Registrar Association of Andalusia, addressed issues such as parentage, including the establishment of parentage in surrogacy; parental authority, as it pertains to the Internet and social media; direct and regular contact with both parents; distress, custody and foster care; adoption; custody for adoption; international adoption; and open adoption, among others.

During her presentation, Dr Fernández Arrojo discussed the manifestation of consent as regards the signing of under-age athletes on pre-contract agreements and analysed the Supreme Court judgement on the matter from February 2013.

Dr Lázaro, in turn, talked about the question of parentage in surrogacy, as part of a round table discussion that touched on various aspects related to families and minors.
