Two professors reflect on expertise and expert evidence at a state level during an international conference

Dr Juan Antonio Andino and Dr Carlos de Miranda Vázquez participated in the International Conference on Expertise and Expert Evidence held on 23 and 24 November.

The two professors from the area of Procedural Law participated in this international conference by giving two separate talks.

The title of Dr Andino’s talk was “The Daubert criteria and how they potentially correspond to the evaluation of expert evidence in Spain”.  In this talk, the professor proposed the application of the Daubert criteria - ideal for the admission of forensic evidence -, in the Spanish system, as is done in the United States.

Dr De Miranda participated in the international conference with a talk entitled “Problems caused by the intervention of experts in trials”. De Miranda tackled the degree to which expert interventions are regulated in legal reports when an expert ruling needs to be provided.
