UIC Barcelona awards, for the first time ever, three Berkeley Grants

The grants are part of the university’s Berkeley Summer Sessions.

On 1 February, for the first time ever, UIC Barcelona awarded grants to three students from the university to take part in the Berkeley Summer Sessions, which is due to take place this summer at the University of California, Berkeley.

The three grant recipients were Magalí Aguayo, a student of Architecture, Fiona González, a student of Law, and Inés Blanch, who is currently completing a double degree in Business Administration and Law.

“The exceptional qualifications of all the applicants made this process extremely competitive”, concluded the director of the International Relations Service, Isabel Pera. “The grants were awarded to the three students based purely on their score in the application process and a personal interview with each of the applicants”.

UIC Barcelona has held an agreement with the University of California, Berkeley for the past three years, under which students may take part in the Berkeley Summer Sessions. With this programme, the students spend a summer attending classes at the University of California, Berkeley and can earn credits for the corresponding subjects in the degree in which they are enrolled at UIC Barcelona. This year, UIC Barcelona has opened up the grants programme even further, to help more students benefit from this agreement.
