Thanks to our network of contacts at universities around the world, our faculties enter into agreements that enable students to complete part of their degree at other universities.

The academic year began, in September, with visits from members of Western University (Canada), the University of Santander (Colombia), the University of the Incarnate Word (USA) and the Universidad Panamericana (Mexico). The objective of these visits is to find synergies and reinforce existing agreements or forge new ones with a view to offering our students more mobility options.

In this regard, for instance, the faculties of Education, Communication Sciences and Economic and Social Sciences are on the verge of entering into an agreement with St Mary’s University in London, following a meeting held on the Barcelona Campus with Benedikt Breuers, the Erasmus coordinator for the European Mobility Office at this university.

Along these lines, Nieves Codina, director of the Boston University Metropolitan College (MET), visited the University midway through the month to explore ways to promote the double degree associated with the Master’s Degree in Cultural Management among students from the United States and expand upon existing partnerships with the School of Architecture and Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences.

Later in the month, Simone Bemmann and Sybille Schneider, Erasmus+ coordinators for the Faculty of Law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg (Germany), were at UIC Barcelona to cement relations between the two faculties of Law and clarify each institution's Erasmus+ requirements and procedures. They also used the visit to become more familiar with how our International Relations Service works.

Yet the work to intensify internationalisation at the University is not restricted to Barcelona, but is global in scope.

In this regard, Faculty of Communication Sciences lecturer Isabel Villanueva, who for the past few months has been involved in a research stay at the University of California, Los Angeles, took advantage of her last few days in the country to spend time with two of the five UIC Barcelona students who are benefiting from the double degree agreement entered into between the faculties of Communication Sciences, Law and Economic and Social Sciences and IONA College: Advertising and Public Relations student Salomé Chica and Journalism student Javier Cumellas.

And lastly, Faculty of Communication Sciences lecturer Isadora García, Paula Borandi, secretary of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, and Belén Aguado, member of the International Relations Service, recently attended the International Mobility Symposium with the goal of closing new mobility agreements for our students.
