UIC Barcelona fosters the study of Josep Torras i Bages with the presentation of a new online repository
The project is the result of research by lecturers from the Faculty of Humanities Marta Crispí and Abel Miró, along with other researchers from the University and the Patronat d’Estudis Osonencs. It was completed within the framework of a competitive project with the Creu Casas Sicart grant from the Xarxa Vives d’Universitats
All the work written by Josep Torras i Bages can now be consulted online in the repository that was presented last Friday, 13 December in the Scriptorium of Vic Cathedral. In addition to the presentation of the online platform dedicated to the Bishop of Vic between 1899 and 1916, during the event Dr Miquel Bordas, lecturer at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and expert in the author’s life, gave a lecture titled “Torras i Bages, the ‘influencer’ of the Sacred Heart of Jesus”.
This repository is the result of research by lecturers Marta Crispí and Abel Miró from the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Humanities, who led the project with other researchers from the University and the Patronat d’Estudis Osonencs. It was completed within the framework of a competitive project with the Creu Casas Sicart grant from the Xarxa Vives d’Universitats.
With this research, Dr Crispí and Dr Miró have contributed to the development of an online repository where you can consult the complete works of Josep Torras i Bages; both classic and recent books and articles about the author and some artistic works that were gifts from his friends (works that until now could only be consulted in the Episcopal Library of Vic).
“There are also some educational notebooks and a Torrasian itinerary that aims to disseminate the life and work of this universal Catalan. We believe that getting to know Torras i Bages is not only of academic interest, but also – fundamentally – human interest,” explained Dr Miró. “An online repository is a compilation of resources that are made accessible to anyone with an internet connection. It is a question of making relevant content universal and accessible”, said Dr Crispí when asked about the objective of the project.
In the Torras i Bages online repository you can consult all the work written by the Bishop of Vic free of charge, an account of his life, a timeline and historical figures with whom he had contact such as the brothers Llimona and Alexandre de Riquer.
