Once again, the Vives Network of universities has organised the Secondary and Baccalaureate Debate League, a public speaking competition in which teams of students from different schools debate a controversial current topic. This year, the question to be debated was whether artificial intelligence is a threat to humanity.
194 centres, 200 teams and about 5,000 students are participating in this edition of the championship. UIC Barcelona hosted one of the local stages at the Sant Cugat Campus on 14, 15 and 16 February. On this occasion, the admissions team and lecturers from various faculties participated as judges in the debates.
The winning team of the current local stage was Escola Pia Calella, which faced the Súnion school of Barcelona in the final. The winning team will represent UIC Barcelona in the final stage, which will take place at the Universitat Jaume I in Castellon de la Plana, on 17, 18 and 19 April.
