In accordance with the findings of the Examining Panel appointed by the Management Committee for the Doctoral School, Xavier Gil, rector of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, awarded the Extraordinary Award for the Doctoral programme in Human, Social and Legal Sciences for the 2011-2012 academic year to Dr Carlos Rey Peña. For academic years 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 the award went to Dr Isabel Villanueva Benito. Dr María Victoria Mas received the award for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Extraordinary Award for the Doctoral programme in Humanities for the 2011-2012 and the 2014-2015 academic years was awarded to Dr Ricardo Mamblona Agüera.
Dr Guillem Carabi was awarded the Extraordinary Award for the Doctoral programme in Architecture for the 2011-2012 academic year, and for the 2014 to 2015 academic year.
In relation to the Doctoral programme in Healthcare Research for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 academic years, the award was given to Dr Aloa Lamarca Dams, and the award for the 2013-2014 academic year went to Dr Sara Ramírez Flores. The Extraordinary Award for the Doctoral programme in Physiotherapy for the 2014-2015 academic year was given to Dr Rosa M. Cabanas Valcés.
Finally, the Extraordinary Award for the Doctoral programme in Dentistry and Laboratory Techniques for the 2011-2012 academic year was given to Dr José Antonio González Sánchez, and for the 2013-2014 academic year to Dr Sandra Pacios Pujadó and Dr Francisco Abella Sans, respectively. Drs Carlos Gil Recio and Jordi Caballé Serrano were deserving winners of the award for the 2014-2015 academic year.
On 14 July 2016, the Management Committee for the Doctoral School appointed the four Examining Panels in charge of evaluating the doctoral theses defended since the last call for the Extraordinary Award which took place in 2012.
The Extraordinary Doctoral Awards ceremony 2015 was for doctoral programmes or research fields in which there had been a minimum of four doctoral theses defended and given a “cum laude” qualification between November 2011 and July 2015 and had not participated in former editions of the Extraordinary Doctoral Awards.
