UIC Barcelona signs an agreement with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

The agreement was made through the UIC Barcelona Master’s Degree in Cultural Management of the Faculty of Humanities and strengthens the presence and academic ties of the University in Asia

In order to consolidate the presence of UIC Barcelona in the Asian market, the University has signed an agreement with the University of Science and Technology of Hong Kong through the University's Master's Degree in Cultural Management of the Faculty of Humanities. The Asian institution ranks among the top 12 universities on the continent according to the QS World University Rankings, and among the top 65 universities in the world according to Times Higher Education.

Christoph Pasour, director of the Master’s Degree in Cultural Management, and Claudia Balboa, coordinator of the postgraduate studies in Cultural Management and professional work placements, visited the premises of the University’s headquarters in Hong Kong on the occasion of the official signing of the agreement. “This agreement will contribute to the internationalisation and globalisation of our university, and will bring new perspectives and new models of understanding, helping to build bridges between different cultures,” said Pasour.

During the visit to the Asian country, educational cooperation agreements with Lingnan University were also pursued, and relations were established with the Master in Cultural Management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), with the aim of exploring the possibility of developing new educational and mobility programmes between both universities.

The delegation was also able to visit various cultural spaces of interest in the city, particularly for the management of the Master's Degree, such as the Hong Kong Art Museum, the Para Site, Videotage, the K11 Art Foundation and the West Kowloon Cultural District, housing prominent cultural institutions such as M+ and the Hong Kong Palace Museum.

“Thanks to these visits we have been able to see other models of cultural management first-hand”, said the director of the master’s degree. Pasour also highlighted the stay as “an opportunity for the Cultural Management programme of UIC Barcelona to approach a territory that not only promises a great potential for growth, but is also expected to significantly boost its cultural and creative industries on a global scale in the near future.”

Pasour and Balboa also participated in the 20th China International Cultural Industries Fair (Shenzhen), an important platform that promotes the development and opening of the cultural sector in China.
