UIC Barcelona student Joan Bru wins second place in the UNIRUN

The tenth edition of UNIRUN, the university race, took place last Sunday, 3 March. Joan Bru, a medical student at the University and a member of the Sport Talent high performance sports programme obtained second place. Humanities student Berta Gràcia was the best female runner of the University

Over 5,000 people participated in UNIRUN, the university race, running the five-kilometre route in the rain, crossing the Sant Marti district of Barcelona and the Parc del Forum. Joan Bru, student of the bachelor’s degree in Medicine at UIC Barcelona, managed to be one of the fastest and get the silver medal with a time of 14’40”.

Berta Gràcia, a student of the bachelor’s degree in Humanities, marked the best time of the University in the female category, with 19’58”.

In this tenth edition, over 100 students have managed to classify UIC Barcelona in ninth position in the university rankings. The University of Barcelona won this edition with 309 points, followed by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya with 874 points and Pompeu Fabra University with 880.

Organised by Esport Catala Universitari (ECU), UNIRUN is a race in which Catalan universities participate. To celebrate this 10th anniversary, there were a wide variety of awards, including the Generalitat de Catalunya award for the university with the most female participation, or the Òptica Universitaria award for the university with the most solidarity.
