UIC Barcelona has invested 13 million euros in transforming its campus in the Vallès region. Located inside the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya, this campus has a total surface area of 18.356m2 and around 3.500 students.
After the extension built in 2017, the Campus Sant Cugat has added 4.752 m2 to its surface area, and now has a total of 18.356 m2, a total of 47 classrooms and seminar rooms (10 of which are new), seven laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technology, six modern gyms for practicums undertaken by Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy students and a new library that has 322 places available.
The University Dental Clinic, which provides a service to more than 600 patients every day, has also grown by adding 32 new booths, there are now a total of 88.
Our aim at the Comprehensive Centre for Advanced Simulation (CISA) at UIC Barcelona is to promote health-related education, research and innovation through leaning and simulated practice, in efforts to ensure quality care and patient safety in cooperation with institutions and companies.
Dr Xavier Gil, rector of the Universidad Internacional de Catalunya, was present when the new facilities were opened, along with other academics and representatives from the business world.
The UIC Barcelona Campus Sant Cugat offers bachelor’s degrees in Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dentistry and a Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering which begins this year and is a pioneering course in Spain. The campus also offers numerous master’s and postgraduate degrees and continuing education courses.
For UIC Barcelona the Campus Sant Cugat transformation means taking a step forward in terms of its contribution towards training professionals who are committed to people and society. The university will extend its academic courses in the field of healthcare with two new degrees for the 2018-2019 academic year, Psychology and Biomedicine, which are pending approval from the Spanish Universities' Council, and also aims to set up a clinic for palliative care.
