UIC Barcelona welcomes 130 new international students

On 15 and 16 January a welcome day was held for the 130 international exchange students who will be at UIC Barcelona during this second semester within the framework of the Erasmus programme, either due to the international bilateral agreements which the university holds, or under the visiting students category, which has grown slightly.

The students mainly come from countries in Latin America, such as Mexico and Columbia, and within Europe, mostly from Germany, the UK, France and Finland and also Canada.

These two welcome days were the continuation of the new initiative which was put into practice with international exchange students from the first semester in September last year.  On the one hand, an information session was organised in which the various services were presented (International Relations, Student Services, the Third Languages Office and the Catalan Office).  The academic coordinators for international mobility in the faculties were also able to meet their students during this presentation.  They were then invited to have a few refreshments in a highly dynamic and friendly atmosphere due to the fact that various photographs and videos were shown.  The session ended with a guided tour around our UIC Barcelona campus carried out by the Admissions Service.

On Saturday, the second day, the two groups of students (on both our Barcelona and Sant Cugat campuses) went on a tour on a bus around Montjuic, the Sagrada Familia and the old part of the city, among other areas.

The students are now members of the Facebook page for international students which was set up in September last year in order to promote interaction between them. Videos, photographs and news will be posted on this page for them.
