The Vila Saborit Foundation, along with the Sagrat Cor Hospital and UIC Barcelona recently set up the “Fundació Vila Saborit” Nursing Research Awards. The purpose of these awards is to recognise young researchers who have demonstrated their research ability in the field of nursing sciences, promoting scientific trajectories based on excellence, to provide support for research in the field of nursing and to disseminate research in that discipline.
The candidates, who could apply for this call until 20 September, were grouped into two categories: doctoral theses - with a triennual call- and final master’s degree projects- an annual call. In the first category candidates must have defended their thesis in the last three years and have obtained a “Cum Laude” qualification. For the second category, candidates can be people who have taken a university master's degree in the field of nursing at one of the Catalan universities and have presented their final master’s degree project during the academic year. For the Doctoral Thesis category, there is a prize of 3,000 euros, divided into three separate prizes, while in the Master’s category, 2,000 euros is awarded, also divided into three prizes.
The awards were allocated by an expert jury created for this purpose and consisting of representatives of the Vila Saborit Foundation, Doctors of Nursing from each Catalan university that offers nursing and master's programmes, members of Catalan healthcare institutions, research experts from the Sagrat Cor University Hospital, and members of the Barcelona Official Society of Nurses (COIB). The awards allocated by the judges were made public during the awards ceremony which was held on 17 November, the official Saint Isabel of Hungary Day, Patron of Nursing, in the Saló de Graus room at UIC Barcelona.
