Introduction
The introduction to the law means first, a conceptual rounds as to what law approximation.
It is a first contact of the student with the great philosophical questions that have surrounded and surround the law.
Familiarize students with the legal vocabulary you will encounter throughout the race will be one of the main goals of the course. Vocabulary that will be essential to acquire after more legal expertise.
We examine determinants such as the meaning of the law. The relationships you have with power. The validity of legal norms and the difference to the value thereof.
We will want to focus on the different social functions performed by the law.
We stop at the sources of law, in the structure of the legal rule in the general principles of law, in the various branches of law.
They will also detailed the fundamental individual rights. And in the final section we will delve into the different theories of justice.

Objectives
- Familiarise the student with the basic components of a legal system: vocabulary, concepts and institutions, functions, etc.
- Offer the student the light legal philosophers have shed and their reflections throughout history, providing a complete definition of law and justice.

Teaching and learning activities
In person
In order to carry out the first part, analysis of the basic concepts through discussion and practical examples will exist in addition professor led lectures in the classroom. Different reading comprehension exercises taken from a variety of texts will be presented and discussed in the classroom as well.
Outside of the classroom, the student should study basic legal vocabulary, prepare text analysis as well as carry out information searches in legal databases.
Evaluation systems and criteria
In person
In the Introduction to Theory of Law course, we will work on the acquisition of legal vocabulary, especially through the teaching of face-to-face classes, reading of legal texts and written works.
The Evaluation will follow the following System:
a) The block of assistance, active participation, delivery of work and individual practices. This block will consist of the elaboration and delivery of the students of individual works (oral or written) that will have periodic character and will be related to the matter taught. The punctual delivery and passing of all these practices will have a maximum value of 2 points on the final mark of the subject.
b) A compulsory partial exam will be done that will serve the students to know their own evolution of the knowledge about the subject. This exam will not release subject matter for the final exam.
c) The remaining 8 points of the evaluation will be obtained from the final mark of the final exam, which will be in writing.
Attendance in class and collaboration is mandatory. Failure to comply with these ends will result in the loss of assessment points. Three lack of assistance without justification, will automatically lose 2 points in block a). Two unexcused lack of assistance will be penalized with the rest of a block point a).
Identical conditions and punctuation and evaluation requirements will be applicable in second and subsequent calls for suspended students.
