Introduction

The clinical session is divided into two two-hour sessions performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Pre-course requirements

Be a graduate in Dentistry or Medicine (Specialist in Stomatology).

Objectives

The aim is to familiarize students with issues about fixed and removable prosthodontics on teeth and on implants to be able to diagnose, plan and perform a prosthetic rehabilitation. 

The theory will be given in the form of selected articles and literature reviews on important topics during the presentation of clinical cases. Industry collaborate closely, so students will have the opportunity to know the largest business brands in the dentistry market. 

Students may attend, and it is encouraged for their formation, to surgery and prosthodontic (MORE) clinical sessions. 

Students will present their cases and suggest different treatment plans, all accompanied by relevant literature reviews concerning the proposed plan or any pathology that may be present. This plan will be presented as a debate in front of teachers and classmates.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

- To diagnose, plan and perform a multidisciplinary treatment, organizing at the same time necessary interconsultations if needed. 

- To learn how to perform a  presentation of a complex clinical case according to the rules of national and international meetings

- To suggest different treatment plans, all accompanied by relevant literature reviews concerning the proposed plan or any pathology present. This planning will provide a debate in front of teachers and classmates.

   

Learning outcomes of the subject

By means of presentations of case studies, reading of selected articles and presented lectures:


- Students will be able to use scientific terminology related to prosthodontics, temporomandibular dysfunction, aesthetic restorative dentistry and to perform a correct intra-and extraoral analysis.

-Have a clear understanding of advanced concepts in implantology: osseointegration, implantologic connection (internal and external), protesics abutments, types of impressions, torque, passive fitting.

- Have a clear and advanced knowledge of tooth preparation, teeth impressions, testing of structures, oral examinations

- Be able to manufacture and install different prosthesis (removable and fixed) and realize an adequate follow-up.

Continuous evaluation by teachers of theoretical knowledge and clinical practices performed by student
Evaluation of readings of articles, recommended books and documentation provided by commercial brands
EVALUATION of clinical cases. Presentation of a before-finished clinical case. It is mandatory to submit at the end of the year 5 "Final Cases" completed and documented with appropriate literature review.
