Education

Antonio Sánchez Hidalgo has a Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1995). He specialized in Cardiology at Hospital Vall D’Hebron (2001). He holds a PhD Degree in Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2011). He also earned a Master's Degree in Design and Statistics in Health Sciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2006) and a Master's Degree in Management of Health Institutions from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2012).

Professional experience

Antonio has worked at the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa since 2004 and is currently the Head of the Cardiology Service of this center. He is president of the Commission for the Improvement of Clinical Practice and the Coordination of Outpatient Processes and a consultant cardiologist for the Consell Assessor de Medicament de l'Atenció Primària i Comunitària i Atenció Especialitzada (CAMAPCE, Department of Health). He has worked as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is currently an Associate Professor of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and Coordinator of the Cardiovascular System course of the degree of Medicine. He is member of the Catalan Society of Cardiology, the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. Founder of the work group for the Coordination between Primary Care and Cardiology (CAMFIC-SCC). He has obtained the following awards and certifications: "Innovació en Gestió de 2016 in the Modalitat en Polítiques d'Eficiència en Recursos" granted by the Unió Catalana d'Hospitals, the certification of the Department of Health (OIGS - Observatori d'Innovació en Gestió de la Salut de AQuAS on Assessing the impact of the adequacy of the cardiology stress test applications) in 2017, the accreditation of the SEC-Quality-Primary Care program (Spanish Society of Cardiology) in 2019, the certification in teaching innovation of the Universitat Internacional de catalunya in 2021 on the use of social networks in the training of medical students and was a finalist in the Impulsa award of the Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya for innovation in the medical field with the project on coordination between primary care and hospital care: "Model of ambulatory care and coordination Atenció Primària - Atenció Hospitalària FINESTRA ÚNICA" He is the author of 11 publications in indexed journals, guest speaker at national conferences, has presented more than 50 communications in national and international congresses, and has been a member of the organizing committee of national congresses and different conferences. His lines of research focus on efficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiology diseases, on improving coordination tools between specialties and the adequacy of care and clinical practice, and on teaching innovation in the degree of Medicine.
