TFG/TFM Awards for Human Rights, Sustainability and Social Action

4th edition

The Cooperation and Sustainable Development Office at UIC Barcelona has organised the 4th edition of the Awards for final degree projects (TFG) and final master's projects (TFM) on Human Rights, Sustainability and Social Action. This is an open call to university students, which aims to recognise projects based on academic excellence, with conceptual contributions and practical implications linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at either a local or global level.

If your bachelor’s final degree project (TFG) or master's final degree project (TFM) is linked to the promotion of human rights, sustainability, social action as well as one or more of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDG) on the 2030 Agenda, it can be submitted to this call.

Terms and conditions of the competition

Prizes

  • An Ipad in the Bachelor’s Final Degree Project (TFG) category and a certificat
  • An Ipad in the Master's Final Degree Project (TFM) category and a certificate.
  •  Runner-up prize certificates to the three best qualified TFG or TFM finalists
     

Important dates

  • The period for submitting projects is from 7 February to 2 October 2024.
  • The decisions on the winning projects will be announced directly to the winners and also through the UIC Barcelona social networks.

     

Objectives of the call

The purpose of these awards is to highlight and reward the commitment to Human Rights, Sustainability and Social Action of the TFG and TFM projects submitted at UIC Barcelona.

Requirements for students to participate

  • Have defended a TFG / TFM in the 2024-2025 academic year at UIC Barcelona.
  • Have obtained a mark not less than 8 out of 10.
  • The language used for the project is Spanish, Catalan or English.
  • The project submitted is unpublished and self-authored.
  • Submit the required documentation.
  • Agree to the competition rules.
  • That the TFG/TFM explicitly emphasises its connection with the promotion of human rights, sustainability, social action or the promotion of the SDGs, and this is reflected in the summary, key words, research objectives and conclusions of the project
     

Jury

The jury will consist of an interdisciplinary tribunal and will declare null and void any projects that do not meet the requirements set out in this call.

Judging criteria

  • Creativity and originality of the topic (10%)
  • Research objectives, theoretical framework and research methodology (25%) 
  • Formal aspects of the paper and quality of the written text (20%
  • Conceptual contributions and practical implications of the TFG or TFM in terms of SDGs (30%)
  • Bibliographical references and sources used (15%)

    • Summarise the content of your project in approximately 300 words, according to these sections and add this information as page 0 when attaching your TFG/TFM:
    • Keywords related to human rights, sustainability, social action or the SDGs.
    • Indicate the connection with human rights, sustainability, social action or the promotion of the SDGs that is developed through the project.
    • Research objectives and methodology.
    • Conceptual contributions or practical implications linked to human rights, sustainability, social action or SDGs.
  • Attach the TFG / TFM in a single compressed ZIP or RAR file

Sending this information implicitly proves you have read and agreed to the competition terms and conditions, the disclaimer and the privacy and data protection policies.

The online form will be available from 7 Feb to 2 Oct of this year.

Publication and dissemination 

The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya reserves the right to disseminate the data provided for the competition (project title, author and summary), the name of the winners and the titles of the winning projects, with express reference to where they have been published.
UIC Barcelona reserves the right to modify the prize rules either completely or partially at any time; even to proceed with their annulment in the event of irregularities. Any incidence of this nature will be duly communicated by the usual UIC Barcelona channels.
