Conference on Teaching Humanities at Upper-Secondary Level

Faculty of Humanities Campus Barcelona

The Faculty of Humanities organised the V Conference on Teaching Humanities at Upper-Secondary Level along with the Official Society of Doctors and Holders of Degrees in Philosophy and the Arts of Catalonia.  

On 20 and 21 of April we hope to see you on our Barcelona campus to participate in the talks and workshops we have organised.  Experts, lecturers and professors will reflect on what the keys and teaching experiences need to be in this type of learning at upper-secondary level.  


Programme:

Friday 20 April

3.15 p.m. Welcome 

3.45 p.m. Opening address from Judith Urbano, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at UIC Barcelona and Maria Dolors Martí, Dean of the Official Society of Doctors and Holders of Degrees in Philosophy and the Arts of Catalonia.  

10.00 a.m. Talk on “Competence-based learning, at upper-secondary level too?” by Javier Valle, who holds a PhD in learning sciences, is a tenured lecturer at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and is director of a research group at the UAM on supranational educational policies. 

5.40 p.m. Break

6- 7.30 p.m. Simultaneous workshops (Block I)

7.30 p.m. Presentations on the Humanities Journal, the Arnau de Vilanova Prize and the CCCB Humanities Institute.  

 

Saturday 21 April

9.30 a.m. Teaching experiences (CESIRE, etc.)

11.00 a.m. Coffee break

11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Simultaneous workshops (Block II)

1 p.m. Closing talk entitled “Some keys to thinking about the crisis in humanities”, by Dr Xavier Ibáñez, from Barcelona’s Sant Gregori school.
