The Regeneration of Intermediate Territories Research Group (RIL) consisting of researchers from the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, along with researchers from the Environmental Institute in the University of Girona, organised a session entitled ‘Participatory Project for the Rehabilitation of the Caldes Riverbed’. The aim behind this project was to improve the environmental quality and promote the social use of the Caldes riverbed by involving citizens in decision-making processes, and to implement and maintain any entrepreneurial improvements.

In January, Obra Social ”la Caixa” and the Catalan Association of Public Universities awarded a RecerCaixa programme grant to a project entitled “Methodological Framework to Support Decision-Making in the Participatory Rehabilitation of Urban Waterways”, in cooperation with the University of Girona. The Regeneration of Intermediate Territories Research Group is coordinated by Pere Vall, Director of the School of Architecture at UIC Barcelona, and its members include Marta Benages, Raquel Colacios, Álvaro Cuéllar, Xavier Garcia and Carmen Mendoza. The team in the University of Girona includes David Pavón and Anna Ribas. The general aim behind this project is to develop a methodological framework to support decision-making in relation to the participatory rehabilitation of urban waterways, aimed at the local and regional administrations responsible for planning and managing rivers.

The session will take place in the El Vapor Community Centre (c/ Enric Granados, 3) in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda on 27 May 2016, between 5 and 8 p.m.
