Certificate of Competence for English Medium Instruction (CLUC-EMI)

What is the CLUC-EMI Exam?

This exam consists of two tests, a written test and an oral test. Its main objective is to assess whether the candidate has the language competence necessary to teach in English. In some cases, the language skills assessed within the exam correspond to a B2 level under the CEFR and in others to a C1 level under the CEFR. 

Who it is intended for?

This exam is intended for academic staff (PDI) interested in certifying the level of language competence required to teach in English at a university level.

January 2025

• Writing test (90 minutes): 28 January, at 1 p.m.  – Campus Sant Cugat.
• Speaking test (30 minutes): from 13 to 24 January, on both the Barcelona and Sant Cugat

• Writing test (90 minutes): 27 June January, at 1 p.m.  – Campus Barcelona.
• Speaking test (30 minutes): from 25 June to 4 July, on both the Barcelona and Sant Cugat

Places

There is a maximum limit of 35 places (places will be assigned by order of payment. This sitting is subject to a minimum of 10 participants).

How can I prepare for the exam?

To prepare for the exam, a two-hour workshop will be offered via video conference (date to be defined)
