Nomination and application

1. Nomination

Identify the type of student you are and follow these steps:

If your home university has an agreement with UIC Barcelona, it must send your nomination details via the nomination form provided by UIC Barcelona via email.

Nomination deadlines:

  • 31/05 for 1st semester exchanges, annual exchanges and for the Master's in Arts and Cultural Management.
  • 31/10 for 2nd semester exchanges.

If you are a visiting student/free mover (without an exchange agreement with UIC Barcelona), you must communicate your interest by email and indicate the following details:

  • Name and surname(s)
  • Exchange period (semester 1, semester 2 or annual)
  • Faculty (area of study)
  • Home university
  • Country of origin
  • E-mail address

2. Application

Once all nominations and applications from visiting students/free movers have been received, UIC Barcelona will let you know how to continue the application process.

Application deadlines:

  • 05/15 for clinical rotations in Medicine.
  • 15/06 for 1st semester exchanges, annual exchanges and for the Master's in Arts and Cultural Management.
  • 15/11 for 2nd semester exchanges.

Attend the webinar that the Department of International Relations will host for incoming students each semester to answer questions about the application process.

  • June for 1st semester exchanges, annual exchanges and for the Master's in Arts and Cultural Management
  • November for 2nd semester exchanges

3. Learning/Training Agreement(LA/TA)

During the application process, you must choose the courses/traineeships you want to take at UIC Barcelona.

LA/TA deadlines:

  • 30/06 for 1st semester exchanges, annual exchanges and for the Master's in Arts and Cultural Management
  • 30/11 for 2nd semester exchanges

UIC Barcelona will send you an email with the available courses and requirements, as well as the contact details of academic coordinators and other relevant issues during the application process.

4. Language requirements

UIC courses are taught in Catalan, Spanish and English, depending on the area of study and module. You will receive this information during the application process in the factsheet for each degree.

In general:

  • Required level of Spanish:
    Level B1-B2, depending on the degree (for courses taught in Spanish). Native Spanish-speaking students are exempt from having to provide language accreditation.
  • Required level of English:
    Level B1-B2, depending on the degree (for courses taught in English). Native English-speaking students are exempt from having to provide language accreditation.
  • Certificates
    Students must have a minimum of B1-B2 level (as indicated in the factsheet for each degree) in the language of the course they are applying to take. 
    UIC Barcelona accepts any official language certificate, or failing that, a certificate issued by a language school or teacher. Certificates obtained via the Erasmus OLS mobility test, Duolingo or letters issued by International Relations will not be accepted.

5. Acceptance letter

Once you have completed the entire application process, the Department of International Relations will review it and, if so, send you the official acceptance letter by email.

IMPORTANT: If you are a student from a country outside the EU, you must obtain a student visa from the Spanish consulate or embassy in the country of origin. If you need to receive the letter of admission in advance by email, or by post, contact us as soon as possible.

As a student you are the only responsible person for the visa application procedure. Contact your home university and any other organisations that can provide you assistance, such as Spanish consulates or embassies in your home country.
