The 15th Update in Dentistry Conference is attended by more than 500 professionals

During the conference, the Dr Miquel Cortada Prize for the Best Final Bachelor’s Degree Project was awarded to Aida Bennani, and the Best Final Master’s Degree Project was awarded to Ana Bofarull, and the 2002 Graduating Class celebrated its 20th anniversary.

On Saturday, 1 October, the UIC Barcelona Sant Cugat Campus hosted the 25th Updates in Dentistry Conference at the Sant Cugat Campus. This year's edition, entirely face-to-face, brought together more than 500 professionals from different specialities, as well as teachers and students who were able to update and improve their skills thanks to the numerous lectures and workshops that were given.

The conference was attended by 60 renown professionals who gave 42 lectures on the key sector specialities: prostheses, dental aesthetics, endodontics, orthodontics, odontopaediatrics, integrated and preventive clinic, periodontics, surgery, special patients, gerontology and dental management. The programme was completed with seven workshops for dental assistants and dentists showing the attendees the most recent innovations in the industry. “It has been a real pleasure to be able to attend the 15th edition of our most emblematic day in a face-to-face manner once again. Direct and personal contact with the students of the Faculty and the professionals in the sector has allowed us to share knowledge and experiences more closely,” explained Dr Lluís Giner, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.

During the event, the Dr Miquel Cortada Prize for Best Final Bachelor’s Degree Project was also awarded to Aida Bennani for her study “Evaluation of insertion torque and surface integrity in different implant’s brands: An In vitro and descriptive study,” and the Best Final Master's Degree Project was awarded to Ana Bofarull for her study “Tooth autotransplantation with Emdogain: A pilot prospective clinical study.”

This edition also included a very special celebration: the 20th anniversary of the first graduating class of the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry at UIC Barcelona. For this great occasion, 30 alumni met in the Auditorium on the Sant Cugat Campus, in a ceremony presided by Dr Lluís Giner and Dr Sandra Fernández, institutional vice-dean of the Faculty. Together they toured the different spaces on Campus and ended in the Auditorium where six alumni shared warm words with their fellow graduates, and ended with a toast.
