2012 ESARQ Forum Ends with Three Young Architects Discussing Their Experiences
Three young Catalan architects discussed their personal understanding of architecture from different perspectives: David Tapias, from the Aixopluc studio in Reus; Olga Felip, from the Arquitecturia studio in Girona; and Xavier Ros, from the Harquitectes studio in Sabadell.
The discussion began with the representatives of all
three studios sharing a similar view of architecture in that they gave particular
importance to the site, user, technique, impact, sustainability and
habitability as the ultimate goal of architecture.
Although they agreed on these points, the architects
focused on one specific aspect of architecture in their individual presentations.
David Tapias explained that in order to achieve the goals set on architectural
projects, it is essential to work methodically. Olga Felip stated, “Architecture
should shake off the rigidity of art”. Finally, Xavier Ros, broke down some of
his works and emphasized the importance of the setting in the creation of a
project.
